LKGT
Stands for
Gate Airspace.
Application
For planning purposes only.
What and where?
Gate Airspace is used in the cross-border FRA environment to protect certain areas – hotspots, interfaces of multiple sectors, or “one-way” areas. The Gate Airspace is defined as a non-straight “line” with a set width. The airspace is specified in different vertical ranges, according to needed functions.
Planning via these Gates is possible under conditions specified in the RAD.
The Gates are published on the NM RAD page, under the Additional Documentation tab. Direct link to the LK Gates document. Here the exact coordinates (horizontal and vertical) are published, as well as additional information – relevant RAD restrictions, explanatory comments, and simple pictures. The conditions are more complex than with NPZs, but the publication page provides enough explanation about the design and function of the Gates.
How?
Airspace users can avoid these by planning via appropriate significant points around the Gate Airspaces or according to described conditions. Time applicability is specified within the RAD restrictions.
